Cracking site on the costal route and perfect to explore the local area. The toilets and showers are very clean and site is well kept. Next to the country park with an on-site cafe ideal for breakfast.
Beautiful campsite with excellent facilities. Pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents. Pitches are spacious and well spaced out. Bring your levellers! Toilets, showers, washing facilities and black waste disposal. Extensive walks and mountain bike trails up the surrounding hills. Tennis courts and playground. Lovely scenery all around. Will definitely be back. There are numerous trails behind the campsite leading into the Mournes and up to the Cloughmor Stone.
Lovely spacious hardstand touring pitches with plenty of grass area for campervans, motorhomes and caravans all fully serviced with electricity and water. Also great tent pitches. Shower block is clean with plenty of hot water. Utility area great for dish washing. No laundry facilities. The location is absolutely amazing with plenty of walking, hiking and cycling. A parkrun takes place here every Saturday morning. Town centre is only 5mins walk with plenty of bars and restaurants and grocery stores. There is also a really good cafe onsite which is great for breakfast and lunch if you don't feel like cooking. If I had to give a negative, the only thing I would say is that it would be nice not to have to pay for electricity on the hard standings if it's not required. Surely it can be turned off for individual pitches 🤔. That being said, I have already booked to go back and have still awarded 5 stars.
Great, expansive free flowing park. Children and adults alike will love. The Narnia trial is not a long walk and children will love discovering all the characters and sculptures. Wonderful place for biking, hiking and fresh air liking . Trees , gorse , heather and blackberries decorate the landscape. Toilets and cafe on site.
Great area for camping, numbers are always capped so plenty of space to pitch. Great toilet & shower blocks and an area for washing dishes (tho no power points). Smaller block by reception also has launderette facilities and a cafe..
Tennis courts, mountain trails including a Narnia Trail to fuel young imaginations. Good sized playpark and an small outdoor gym. Loads of green areas for ball games and beside a stream and a Fairy Glen. 10 minute walk into Rostrevor village for supplies. If eating out try the Thai green curry in The Church Bistro (closes at 5pm weekdays so be early)
Highly recommended.
Avoid the pitches in the 30s. 34-39 are not "slightly inclined" as the site says but impossible to get level on. There is an easy two foot drop from front to back and size inches right to left. My rear steadies were still six inches from the ground when attempting to get level.
I saw a few empty pitches so went to ask if I could move and was told I couldn't move. Those spaces were "booked". Four spaces out of ten in the little circle were booked online but they all failed to show up by nine pm?
I asked if they had cinder blocks or timber to help but they wouldn't give any indication of help. Eventually I used some rubber bollards I found behind a bin in the rain.
Kilbroney can do better. It's a nice spot with clean toilets and a nice playground, hence the two stars. The lad on the desk was trying (and polite) but I could see his hands were tied by managers instructions.
Twenty pounds deposit for a key card is ridiculous too. I wanted to leave by eight to get on the road but couldn't check out until nine because of it.
We camped here during Storm Frances (we didnt know it was forcast and no managment notified us) we had to pack up at 4am as everything was being blown to pieces. For our own safety we had to leave.. it was pretty scary. We were on the grass pitches at the back which was very wet... a mud bath really. We were pitch no. 21. It was a good pitch, only for the mud, stoney ground ( hard to hammer pegs down in places) We thought it was sheltered but nothing can shelter you from a storm in a tent. Apart from that Kilbronny park is stunning. We walked through the woods into Rostrevor. It was a great walk the kis lovely the water falls etc. We definitely be back but we will keep a better eye on the weather next time
The environment is magic. Beautiful. However there’s no facility where you could go, sit down and have your meal, it’s something to think about. Space is not a problem.
